Great North Ride - Pre-ride

Keeping it local this time.

A few years ago my husband I decided to take part in the Great North Ride 2017.

(when I say we decided, I mean to say I decided for him).

The Great North Ride is a 60 mile ride from Seahouses to Tynemouth  This is a charity ride to raise funds for the Chris Lucas Trust. By the way if you want to take part in this years ride click here.

The route winds its way through lots of little towns and villages such as Walkworth & Amble and is such a nice ride.

We decided to do it as a two-parter and have a weekend away and a micro-adventure.

Day 1

Quick selfie following us stocking up on a few bits and bobs for the next couple of days ahead.

Started in the afternoon at the car park in Seahouses.

Just been dropped off by Paul's dad in the car.  We are looking very upbeat and optimistic, before we had put any effort in obviously.
Approaching Longhoughton

Looking like two gargoyles at the front of a castle, after the climb into Warkworth!

      View towards Alnmouth

Just past Walkworth I believe and heading for Amble.k

Somewhere along the coast (just can't place it)

Paul showing off at the front.
Alnmouth view - enjoying the sunshine
Hitting the beach on day 1 - which was in front of the campsite.

Arrived at the campsite

Day 2

Getting packed up and almost ready to go

Looking like another cracking day -weather wise!

Nice off road cycle paths past Woodhorn towards North Seaton.

Crossing the Wansbeck  once we'd passed Washington

Loving the Minions made out of old gas canisters outside of someones house in Cambois.

Made it as far as the Coastline Chippy, South Beach, Blyth.

The rest of the journey from Blyth to Tynemouth is local to us and so we know the terrain and distance, plus we were glad to get out of our saddles.

As well as it being a cracking chippy they also do a fantastic range of Ciccarelli Artisan Gelatos, with flavours such as Turkish Delight, Bubble Gum and Ferrero Rocher.  All made on the premises.

Loved having this micro adventure and touring somewhere more close to home.

The other tours we have undertaken have been much further away from home and unfamiliar, so this was different but still interesting.

We plan to continue upload more of our adventures so keep checking back.

We also have a Instagram account: duntonsonadonder
This will be updated regularly.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tynemouth Front Street - Mouth of the Tyne Festival 10.07.011

We went for a walk on Sunday in Tynemouth to find some geocaches and enjoy the weather and encountered the last day of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival. The following are photographs I took on Front Street.

The they made cute noises and the kids loved them and as you can see from the photographs they were stroking them.

Flowers from out latest camping trip - Hollows Farm Campsite - Grange

Catbell Summit

This is my husband and myself on the summit of Catbells in the Lake District on 1st July 2011.

We then went on to summit Maiden Moor (although this did not seem to have any discernible summit as such) and High Spy.

We were lucky to have good weather and met some lovely people on our walk. We were 'puffed out at some stages but were so glad to did it and felt great when we reached the top each time.

We also did some lower level walk while we were visiting the lakes and waked from Ashness Bridge to Walla Crag and back.

I thought this boat looked lovely, especially with its clear reflection. The photo was taken at Gairlochy.

Shinty Match - Saturday 2nd October

This photo was taken at our first ever Shinty match, which was between Glen Urquhart & Lovat. The photo is of the 'throw up' which happens at the beginning of the match and after everygoal.

Glen Urquart who are in North Division Two, took the title with a win, 2-1 at home to Lovat.
